Top Ten Movies to Get You in the Halloween Spirit

Top Ten Movies to get you in the spirit of Halloween!

yes,  there are plenty of new films in the "horror" genre, most of those are a little too gruesome for me, so I haven't seen them and can't comment on them.  If you like to be really scared then these may not be for you, but if you are looking for creepy and in the spirit of the Halloween season, here is a great start.  This list is mainly for getting you in the Halloween mood but in case you might want to show them to older children I also listed the rating for each movie, some may be appropriate, I'd check out commonsense media if you haven't seen one of the movies or if it's been a while...

1. Ghostbusters (1984) PG
It's about ghosts haunting the city and makes you laugh too, classic for October

2. The Lost Boys (1987) R
a great vampire film with Keifer Sutherland, eat Chinese food during it for more of a creep factor

3. The Watcher in the Woods (1980) PG
this movie used to really creep me out as a kid (it's Disney)

4. Cat's Eye (1985) PG-13
This has three shorter stories within the movie,  all with a cat in common, in true Stephen King form, it's creepy and twisted

5. Hocus Pocus (1993) PG
a classic for close to Halloween

6.  Practical Magic (1998) PG-13
Great movie for this time of year, centers around a sisterly bond and some magic

7. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) PG-13
Ok, I love this movie, I don't even like zombies (too scary) but I LOVE this movie, probably because I love Pride and Prejudice so much, the Bennet girls are awesome!

8. Death Becomes Her (1982) PG-13
funny with just enough magic and death for the season

9. Gremlins (1984) PG
great fun and you gotta love the one-liners you get from it!

10. Scream (1996) R
Probably the scariest one on the list but it also is funny and makes fun of scary movies at the same time

** You know I have never seen the Cat's Eye before so maybe I will watch that this month. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies....of course, you put this on the list because it's awesome and also because everytime I am there you want to watch it ha! Love Love! Gremlins used to freak me out when I was young but we still use lines from that movie to this day! Love, Ro
